At Kenton Bar Primary School, we place a great emphasis on the importance of Music within our curriculum. Music is a universal language which contributes to our well-being and to our social, emotional and cultural development.
In our Early Years Foundation Stage, we aim to:
  • Develop imagination and creativity in our children

  • Develop the ability to vocalise what likes or dislikes about a piece of music

  • Develop the ability to sing, using voices as instruments.

In Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, children study the National Curriculum for Music and we aim to:

  • Engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music

  • Increase self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement

  • Develop a critical engagement with music

  • Develop an understanding of the history of music.
